AS400 / IBM Support Specialist

3-Month Temporary Contract

Hours: Mond-Frid (8am-4pm or 9am-5pm)

Based in Thornbury (This position could also be based in Caerphilly)

£18 - £25 per hour (Depending on experience)

We are looking for a hands-on AS400 / IBM i Support Specialist to join an established team on an initial 3-month contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys investigating problems, getting to the root cause and finding practical, long-term solutions.

The Role

You'll act as a specialist point of support for AS400 / IBM system issues, independently investigating problems and identifying ways to improve system performance and business processes.

You'll be responsible for:

• Investigating and resolving AS400 / IBM i system issues
• Writing and enhancing reports and SQL queries
• Analysing and validating data
• Troubleshooting system and process failures
• Documenting findings and providing clear recommendations
• Developing sustainable solutions to improve processes

What We're Looking For

• Strong AS400 / IBM i knowledge
• Good SQL and report writing skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability
• The confidence to investigate issues independently
• Experience with data analysis and system processes
• Experience within a manufacturing or operational environment would be an advantage.
