Job Description:

An outstanding medical recruitment opportunity has emerged as Evolve Staffing Ltd. seeks a distinguished Consultant Ophthalmologist for a premier NHS hospital in Bristol. This senior clinical leadership role requires an expert surgeon and physician to deliver comprehensive eye care services to the local population. The ideal candidate will possess advanced sub-specialty interests—such as anterior segment, medical retina, or oculoplastics—and will be instrumental in driving forward clinical excellence, reducing waiting times, and innovating patient care pathways within the ophthalmology directorate.

Core Clinical Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-volume, high-quality surgical interventions, particularly complex cataract surgeries and sub-specialty procedures.

• Lead comprehensive outpatient clinics, providing expert diagnosis and management plans for complex ocular pathologies.

• Provide robust clinical leadership, mentoring Specialist Registrars (SpR), SHOs, and allied health professionals.

• Spearhead clinical audits, quality improvement projects, and adhere rigorously to Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) guidelines.

Essential Candidate Requirements:

• Full GMC Registration and entry on the Specialist Register for Ophthalmology (or within 6 months of expected CCT/CESR date).

• FRCOphth qualification (or globally recognised equivalent).

• Extensive, verifiable surgical logbook and proven excellence in comprehensive and sub-specialty ophthalmology.
