Employment Lawyer

Salary up to £50k DOE

Yolk Recruitment is supporting a leading national law firm with the recruitment of an Employment Lawyer to join its established Employment team. This is an excellent opportunity for an employment law specialist who enjoys managing their own caseload, advising clients on Employment Tribunal matters and providing practical, commercially focused advice. Applications are welcomed from candidates seeking either full-time or part-time hours.

As an Employment Lawyer, you will manage a varied caseload of Employment Tribunal claims, primarily arising through legal expenses insurance, while also gaining exposure to non-contentious employment matters and commercial client advisory work. Depending on experience, there may also be opportunities to supervise junior members of the team.

This is what you will be doing

As an Employment Lawyer, your duties will involve:-

• Managing a caseload of Employment Tribunal claims from initial advice through to conclusion, including drafting pleadings and witness statements.
• Advising clients on the merits of potential employment claims, settlement options and overall case strategy.
• Negotiating settlements, advising on settlement agreements and instructing Counsel or advocates where required.
• Supporting commercial clients with non-contentious employment matters, including contracts, employee handbooks and day-to-day employment law advice.
• Contributing to wider team activities including employment law updates, client training, marketing initiatives, billing and compliance with insurer service standards.

The experience you will bring to the team

You will bring the following experience to the Employment team:-

• Previous experience within employment law, whether gained post-qualification or through substantial pre-qualification employment experience.
• Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEx would be welcomed, although candidates with comparable experience and a desire to qualify will also be considered.
• Experience managing your own legal caseload and taking responsibility for progressing matters and determining case strategy.
• Strong drafting, communication and client management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• A genuine interest in employment law alongside the ability to prioritise competing deadlines and work effectively as part of a supportive team.
