Who are Women’s Aid?  

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of just under 180 organisations which provide over 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse. 

Our support services, which include the Survivors’ Forum, the No Woman Turned Away Project, the Survivor’s Handbook, Love Respect (our dedicated website for young people), the national Women’s Aid Directory and our advocacy projects, help thousands of women and children every year.

Purpose of the Evaluation & Impact Manager role:                 

To develop, lead and manage Women’s Aid’s approach to outcomes measurement within a wider programme of quality assurance. Including developing and advocating for our Outcomes Framework for survivors of domestic abuse, collaborations with academics, member consultation and advocacy with key stakeholders.
To lead and manage the internal impact and learning evaluation programme to maximise the organisation’s impact against key strategic objectives. To work with the Research & Evidence Manager, Membership & Quality Assurance Manager and Head of Membership, Research & Evaluation to develop and implement an impactful and sustainable programme of research and evaluation that centres the needs of survivors in policy and practice.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Evaluation & Impact Manager:

• Lead on Women’s Aid’s program of monitoring, evaluation & learning. Inclusive of overseeing and prioritising the development of evaluation frameworks & methodologies, ensuring they are robust, ethical & sustainable.
• Lead a team working cross-organisationally to embed evaluation into core project and programme processes.
• To work with the wider team to strengthen the use of internal data for evaluation and learning purposes in order to strengthen the organisation’s impact against its strategic objectives
• Co-ordinate our response to funding bids, ensuring funding applications are evidence based and meet the monitoring and evaluation requirements of funders
• Assist with identifying business opportunities for Women’s Aid’s data sets, research and evaluation, and develop and implement strategies for income generation.
• Represent Women’s Aid at external meetings
• To build a network of academics who support the work of Women’s Aid, seeking opportunities to apply for joint funding to address identified gaps in our evidence base.
• To carry out management, supervision, appraisal and development of direct reports
• To ensure proper management of the delegated budget

What we are looking for in our Evaluation & Impact Manager:

• An understanding of a range of methods for monitoring and evaluation, including methods appropriate for measuring outcomes for diverse survivors.
• Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
• Knowledge of the issues facing diverse women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence and in relation to the provision of effective service provision in the VAWG arena.
• Experience of both qualitative and quantitative social research techniques in a work environment.
• Experience of statistical analysis
• Experience of using data to evidence meaningful outcomes.
• Clear, persuasive and engaging communication style, including the ability to communicate complex ideas and analysis to audiences that are not data savvy.
• Ability to understand the application of hard data to the needs of audiences seeking to achieve social outcomes
• Demonstrable skills in using spreadsheets, databases and other software to analyse data and produce reports.
• Highly developed analytical skills, with the ability to apply creative solutions to complex problems
